Love Island 2019: Tommy Fury as Chelsea and who the other contestants would be if they were Premier League clubs
There’s plenty of sporting action for us to look forward to this summer but we also have the hit reality TV show Love Island to sink our teeth into as well. The ITV hit is a show where a group of sexy singles gather in a villa in Spain and ‘couple up’ with each other in a bid to find love (or stay in the game which will see the winning couple receive 50,000 and get the chance to achieve untold levels of fame).Brother of Tyson Fury, Tommy, is on this series of Love IslandGetty Images - Getty1

The current series has Tyson Fury’s brother, Tommy Fury, participating in it and it has been going on for just over a week and inevitably it’s already produced huge drama.Tyson Fury shows off his moves as he works out with trainer Ben Davison

Some are coping much better than others with the game and now that fans of the show are getting used to the different personalities and their character traits, this got us thinking at talkSPORT.com – if the contestants were teams from the Premier League, who would they be?Below you can see which Premier League teams Love Island 2019’s contestants would be based on the top flight action in 2018/19.*Ratings done on Monday June 10. The fortunes of anyone on Love Island can change very quickly so we will update this piece regularly

Molly-Mae Hague – Liverpool

We didn’t see Molly in action until Friday night’s episode but she’s made a blistering start.Molly, who works as an ‘influencer’ was romantically linked with Leicester City’s James Maddison and it’s fair to say she’s turned a few heads on the show too with Tommy, who she’s coupled up with, and Anton both making a play for her.

This is a very good position to be in and Molly should go far in the competition but having two boys liking her could make her lose focus and it would be similar to the struggle Liverpool sometimes had over whether they should prioritise the Premier League or the Champions League.

Lucie Donlan – Manchester City

Molly has boys after her but Lucie was left spoilt for choice in the first week – with Tommy, Anton and Joe all admitting they’d like to get to know her better.Lucie and Molly have had the most attention just like City and Liverpool had the most success last season. But Lucie is City at the moment because she’s had just that little bit more success than Molly.

Tommy Fury – Chelsea

Tommy arrived in the villa as the most well-known contestant and big things were expected of him as is always the case at Chelsea Football Club. However, the light-heavyweight boxer has had a few setbacks so far, namely when Lucie opted to couple up with Joe despite Tommy making it clear he liked her.He seems happy enough to be coupled up with Molly and you get the sense things will be all right for Tommy in the end, as it was for the Blues last season despite their numerous setbacks.

Joe Garratt – Tottenham Hotspur

Joe won the battle to steal Lucie’s heart though and is now coupled up with her. However, there’s still a long journey ahead.Who’s to say there won’t be other boys trying to woo Lucie over the next few weeks? Joe got a little bit too rattled when Tommy was given the choice to take any of the girls out on a date and chose Lucie. You do worry Joe might struggle to cope if more and more boys flirt with Lucie just like Tottenham have a tendency to crumble when it gets to the really important moments in a season.

Callum Macleod – Huddersfield Town

Callum was the first Love Island 2019 casualty just like Huddersfield were the first team to get relegated from the Premier League last season.Callum and Huddersfield seem nice enough but both were ultimately out of their depth and got found out.

Danny Williams – Wolves

This one was hard to do as we don’t see model Danny in action until Monday night’s episode but the glimpses we’ve seen are good. It’s not clear how well he’ll do just like it wasn’t clear how well Wolves would adapt to the Premier League last season but it seems like Danny will be a new and exciting contestant on the show.Wolves achieved a creditable seventh-placed finish in the Premier League as well as a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Amber Gill – Arsenal

Amber has real potential to go far in the competition just like Arsenal have the potential to become contenders for the Champions League spots. But Amber is hampered by the fact she hasn’t found anyone she’s really into in a romantic sense and Unai Emery just isn’t getting the financial backing he needs to get the Gunners back among the elite. Both Amber and Arsenal’s respective situations will get better if these things happen but it’s easier said than done.

Anton Danyluk – Manchester United

You get the sense that the ever-persistent Anton had a lot of success with the ladies – in the past…In the here and now and in front of the watching nation, Anton is getting pied at every corner and was only saved from the boot by Amber last week. But it’s clear their coupling up is strictly friendship-based.Manchester United have experienced a similar decline in fortunes in recent seasons.

But both Anton and United are not going down without a fight and they’re willing to throw everything to restore the good old days – in United’s case it’s by putting in huge amounts of money in the transfer market.

Michael Griffiths – Everton

Much like Everton, fireman Michael is good in patches. He did basically nothing in the first few days but there are signs that things could be getting better for Michael with Amber admitting she has some interest in him.Michael is also a scouser so Everton is a good match for him but he hasn’t quite been performing at a Liverpool-like level yet.

Yewande Biala – Cardiff City

Oh Yewande, she’s a really nice person and her fans are desperate to see her to do well. But given her high-flying career as a scientist, she does seem somewhat out of place on the show. She’s showing plenty of effort like Cardiff did last season and is due to go on a date with new boy Danny on Monday night’s episode. You feel this has to go well otherwise her future on the show is uncertain.

Amy Hart – Bournemouth

Bournemouth won promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history in 2015 and four years on they’re still there and pretty content with their situation. This is similar to Amy, who claimed in the first episode that she has never had a boyfriend despite being 26-years-old.However, she’s in the only solid couple so far this series and you get the sense she is happy with her status on the show, just like the Cherries are as a Premier League club.

Curtis Pritchard – Burnley

Amy’s partner is ballroom dancer Curtis, who is definitely the Love Island equivalent of Burnley.Curtis is good, honest and hard-working much like Sean Dyche has his Clarets team drilled. Neither Curtis nor Burnley seem too fussed about branching out either.

Sherif Lanre – Newcastle United

Semi-pro rugby player Sherif has been difficult to work out thus far. He’s coupled up with Anna but he has a funny way of showing he fancies her.Sherif is easily the least proactive contestant still on the show and it’s fair to say Newcastle are not very proactive in the transfer market. It only took Anton hitting on Anna for Sherif to fully get his backside in gear just like it takes the threat of relegation for the Magpies to start playing well.
View this post on Instagram FIRST NIGHT DOWN What does everyone think of Sherif and Anna #loveisland #loveisland2019 #teamsherif #lovelanreA post shared by Sherif Lanre (@sherif_lanre) on

Anna Vakili – Crystal Palace

Pharmacist Anna was very picky at the beginning of the show and thus made a slow start as do Palace who sometimes begin the season in not the best run of form. But it seems like something good is developing with Sherif and the pair should be safe from any risk of getting kicked out for this week at least.
